Together for melody foundation

Today we bid farewell to a fellow composer of beautiful melodies.

On Tuesday, January 28th, Randi Botnen, a dear friend and founder of Together for Melody, silently slept in after a long battle against cancer. As we are struck by her loss, the hope she has left us with is yet to blossom and bring a spring to what has been a winter for many.

Our thoughts and prayers are with beloved Randi, her friends and family.

Randi was a warm, kind, talented and wonderful friend.

As she continues to live through her music and foundation, she shall be dearly missed.

On behalf of myself and the Composers for Beauty team, we were very saddened by the loss of our dear friend Randi Botnen who silently slept in after a long battle against cancer at 10 am CET this Tuesday.

Randi and I got to know each other on a personal level over the last 1 1/2 years. She was vulnerable about her fear of death, but also about how much her faith in God strengthened her with the promise of heaven in the life to come for those who believe and trust in Jesus as their Savior. I am comforted knowing she believed. She felt she had so much to live for, especially now that she was just about to have her breakthrough as a composer with performances in Vienna.

When we traveled to Vienna together in June, she was so inspired, as you can see in the video clip from the Composers for Beauty documentary we made where she shared her challenging story and hopeful aspirations.

As board members in her grant-giving foundation Together for Melody, Inger and I had a Zoom meeting with her on Monday this week from her hospital bed and were planning for the next meeting later this week. Little did I know that this would be the last time I spoke with her, as only 15 hours later, she passed away.

As we mourn her loss, we also start honoring her legacy of great melodic and beautiful music. And through her foundation, we will spiritually fight for the revival of beauty in classical music which was our great shared passion.

Thank you for everything, Randi. Our mission lives on.
